You may have seen some of the images of local landmarks on Woodsmoor and other Buxton Line stations. These wonderful artworks were created at part of a wider Community Rail Art Project that commissioned two images for each of the stations in south east Manchester. They are the work prolific local artist Eamonn Murphy.
Woodsmoor Station now displays unique images of Mirrlees Fields and Stepping Hill Hospital that you can see on the platforms. Davenport Station has images of the Blossoms pub and St George's while further up the line you can see pictures of The Civic Hall and The Rising Sun at Hazel Grove.
The great news is the images are available to buy in a number of formats to suit you. The ones related to Woodsmoor Station can be purchased directly from Woodsmoor Station Friends. They'll look great in your home and would make a fabulous Christmas gift for the Woodsmoorian who has everything!
